  Nevada Marriage License Legal Requirements

 There is no blood test or waiting period in Nevada. You must obtain your license from  the Courthouse at 201 Clark Ave. (corner 3rd St.)  Both parties must appear in person with proof of identity. The fee is $60.00 (cash only). License issued immediately. You may obtain license up to one year prior to wedding.

General License Information

Marriage License Requirements

    Requirements for U.S. citizens and non U.S. citizens are the same.

    It is suggested that non U.S. citizens check with your local officials for special documents that may be needed to ensure that your marriage will be recognized in your country.

   Applicants must be a Male and a Female, at least 18 years of age, and not nearer of kin than second cousins or cousins of half blood, and not having a husband or wife living.
Proof of age is necessary and proof of identity of person or persons giving consent may also be required. A legal guardian must provide proof of appointment by the court. If a parent or guardian is not present, a notarized affidavit stating name, age, place of birth and relationship of person(s) giving consent. For persons under the age of 16, a Nevada Court Order must be obtained.

   Applicants may be required to prove their age. Those not having acceptable identification to prove age may be refused a marriage license. (Faxed copies, damaged identification, privately issued I.D., check cashing cards or photocopies of identification are unacceptable.)

    Social Security Numbers are required on marriage licenses. Please know your Social Security Number. Those without knowledge of their Social Security Number may be refused a marriage license.  It is recognized that non U.S. citizens will not have a Social Security Number. 

Requesting For A Certified Copy Of Your Marriage License:

For name changes and benefits you will need a certified copy of your marriage certificate.


  • To obtain a certified copy of your marriage certificate you can come to our office, order  by mail, or order through county website: Clark County Recorder's Office 

  • A certified copy of your marriage certificate costs $10.00. 

  • To order or pick up these documents, visit recorder's office in person or mail in your request.

Some countries require a certified copy of your marriage certificate and an Apostille from the Nevada Secretary of State to finalize the marriage in your country.

Divorce papers are not required for a remarriage in Nevada. You will be required to sign on your license application that you are legally divorced. A divorce granted in another state must be final in the state in which it was granted. You are not required to bring the divorce decree.

Identification            The following may be used for identification:

    Driver's License or State-issued I.D. card.
    Original or Certified copy of Birth Certificate.
    Foreign Birth Certificate must be translated into English and notarized.
    Military Identification.
    Resident alien card.

All documents presented must be translated into English.
